ORGANISING YOUR DATA AND CONTENT

It's likely that the key to the success or failure of the website, and certainly how long it takes to deliver, will largely be based on your data. The vast majority of project delays that we experience are with clients taking longer than they thought to collate their data.

We can't use data we haven't got. Again, this might sound like an obvious thing to say, but we can't implement a search or a filter on your website to show you all the 'red' products if the fact that the product is 'red' isn't in the data.

Another key split is on whether a product is a separate product or a configurable product. For example if you were selling t-shirts with designs on them and lots of people searched Google for 'blue t-shirts' then it might make more sense to have the t-shirts split by colour than by design. This way the category 'blue t-shirts' would likely appear higher in Google. The people doing the searching then land on a more specific page for their search and are more likely to stay longer and make a purchase. This is instead of organising the t-shirts by design, and having those designs available in various colours on the same page. While this may be a very simplified example to make a point, if you have hundreds or thousands of products then we need to ensure that your data is in the best possible format before we import it into your E-Commerce website.
